Audio/Visual Art: Event Staging, Rigging etc
EVENTS STAGING & RIGGING

Event management is considered one of the strategic marketing and communication tools by companies of all sizes. From product launches to press conferences, companies create promotional events to help them communicate with clients and potential clients. A number of elements such as A/V’s, music, live entertainment or even the particular venue may be used to influence the tone and atmosphere of an event.

Setting up an event would demand the services of decor builders, stage riggers, lighting; designers, riggers and engineers, sound; designers, setup and engineers, A/V setup and engineers, stage managers and coordinators.  To produce AV (audiovisual) presentation to suit a client’s needs, they would use a production house to create and facilitate a custom made film, video or soundtrack.

Audiovisual (AV) means possessing both a sound and a visual component, such as slide-tape presentations or a video. Audiovisual service providers frequently offer web streaming, video conferencing and live broadcast services.

A lighting designer (or LD) works with the coordinator, choreographer, decor designer and sound designer to create the lighting for the production in response to the text, while keeping in mind issues of visibility, safety, and cost. The LD also works closely with the stage manager or show control programming, if show control systems are used in that production. Lighting Designers can be much more diverse and they can be found working on rock and pop tours, corporate launches, art installation and on massive celebration spectaculars, for example the Olympic Games opening and closing ceremonies.

Sound design is the process of specifying, acquiring, manipulating or generating audio elements to enhance the experience of the audience. It is employed in a variety of disciplines for live performances. Sound design most commonly involves the manipulation of previously composed or recorded audio, such as sound effects and dialogue. In some instances it may also involve the composition or manipulation of audio to create a desired effect or mood.

Once the lighting- or sound design has been implemented it is commonly handed over to the lighting- or sound engineer to operate it during a show.
