AUDITIONS: No Drama! (At Least, Not Your Drama!)

AUDITIONS: No Drama!  (At Least, Not Your Drama!)

It can be difficult for Performers to walk into an audition and leave everything that they are dealing with in the outside world at the door.  However, you must learn to set aside your feelings and get the job done.  Picture yourself leaving a backpack of thoughts and feelings that you have that day in the waiting room.  Then you can “pick up the emotion bag” when you leave the audition!

Leave your drama at home.  Sometimes you can channel your personal drama if it matches up to, or is similar in nature to, what the character is going through.  Otherwise, all other personal drama should be left at home, so that you can focus on the work and be effective and appealing in the room.  Understand that it’s not just about you.  Get excited about the project itself and understand how you can serve that project.
