The Clumber Spaniel is a delightful breed of dog developed in the United Kingdom. Let’s explore some key characteristics of this unique spaniel:
  • Appearance:
    • Clumber Spaniels are the largest of the English spaniel breeds.
    • They have a massive headmelting expression, and large, vine-leaf-shaped ears.
    • Their coat is dense, weather-resistant, and predominantly white with lemon or orange markings around the eyes and at the base of the tail.
  • Temperament:
    • Clumbers are described as gentleloyal, and affectionate.
    • They can appear sedate, enjoying curling up on the couch, eating, and sleeping.
    • However, they have some quirky habits, including constant shedding and snoring.
  • History:
    • The breed’s name comes from Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire, where it was first developed.
    • Clumber Spaniels have been kept and bred by various members of the British Royal Family, including Prince Albert, King Edward VII, and King George V.
    • They were introduced into Canada in 1844 and became one of the first ten breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1884.
Whether you’re drawn to their dignified demeanor or their playful antics, Clumber Spaniels are sure to capture your heart! 🐾❤️
