NOTE ON RABBITS
Waterfall Kennels does offer rabbit owners an aviary for their rabbits to stay in rather than the standard hutch which has limited space - but please be advised that if this facility is requested over our high season periods owners will be billed at normal cat rates/night.

Rabbits are quiet, careful animals that require a gentle and patient owner to bring out their affection and natural curiosity. They are not suitable for very young children as rabbits can scratch, kick or bite if handled incorrectly. Rabbits are in danger of fracturing their spines if they kick out with their hind legs. Rabbits generally require adult supervision and care.

Breeds:
There is only one species of the domesticated rabbit but many different breeds. There are also the mixed/local breed rabbits.

Lifespan:
8-10 years

Essentials:
• Cage (with a solid floor)
• Food & water
• Water bottle & food dish
• Bedding / Litter
• Grooming equipment for long fur (comb, brush)
• Mineral or wooden blocks (for natural trimming of teeth)
• Claw clippers
• Lots of time and love

Other items your pet may need:
We also recommend toys to keep your rabbit occupied when it is alone.

Rabbits are herbivores. Provide lots of fresh hay (dried grass) like alfalfa, timothy or oat, together with a limited quantity of quality pellets (that do not contain nuts and corn), fresh fruits (without seeds) and green leafy vegetables. To provide calcium, feed your rabbit hard vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower once weekly. Carrots have high sugar content so limit your rabbit’s carrot intake to once weekly.

Rabbit Owner’s Timetable:
Daily: Feed, Clean Bottles, Scoop out Dirty Bedding & Play/Interact with your pet.
Once or twice weekly: change the bedding & wash the cage & accessories
Monthly: Trim nails
Grooming: Frequently - the frequency depends on the fur length and type.
