So You Want To Be A Performer?

So You Want To Be A Performer?

If you've come to this BLOG, it's probably safe to assume that you're interested in what this business is all about. You've always dreamed of being an actor, perhaps. Maybe you dream of becoming a professional singer? A dancer? Why haven't you tried it yet? What's stopping you?

It could be fear that is stopping you.

Fear of the unknown, fear of failure, uncertainty, fear of rejection. These are all valid points, and valid feelings. However if you want to work in this business, you need to get rid of these feelings entirely. Or at least learn how to manage them.

If this is your dream, you’ve got to go for it, and you cannot allow anything or anyone stop you from achieving your goals!

In order to have a successful career as a Performer, there are certain things that are a necessity.

The entertainment business is one of the most competitive and sometimes emotionally brutal businesses in the world. That being said, it's also one of the most awesome businesses to be a part of. The industry is comprised of all different kinds of amazing people, and we all seem to coexist rather pleasantly. It's remarkable, really. And there is room for everyone.

Regardless of what job you're looking to obtain in this industry, it is all quite simple.

The key to success in the entertainment biz is to work hard, and to just be you. Your individuality is what will truly set you apart in entertainment. There is no one "right" or "wrong" way to finding (and sustaining) success in this industry. It's certainly not a "fair" business! But, life isn't always fair, is it? What makes this industry amazing actually is the combination of the successes and failures, for this is how we learn to grow as human beings, and also as Performers. If you learn to take whatever comes your way in this industry in stride and enjoy every minute of it, you will never fail.

You will read about how to join the actor’s union, SAGA, how to find an agent, suggestions about how to conduct yourself in an audition, (and also what not to do in an audition), and everything in between!
