My name is Tracy Steytler and I have a passion for baking cakes. I started baking at a very early age, baking good old vanilla sponge cake no icing just a sprinkling of icing sugar over the top. My granny use to bake quite a lot and I would spend holidays with my grandparents. Granny would always let me do everything from rubbing butter in to icing the Christmas cake and help with the Trifle. Now that I think back she must have had the patience of a saint. Once I had children I became a weekend warrior and baked cakes for my children’s parties and whoever else wanted a cake, Desserts have always been my thing to do for family dinners and get togethers.
In 2012 I was retrenched from a job that I loved but sadly business was down badly and the rest as they say is history. So what to do with myself, I need to work but what to do, instead of doing what I had done why not try something I really love. So with a purchase of an industrial oven and mixer that is very impressive I started my business. I now bake six days a week and generally work on average a 12 hour day and I love it !
Most importantly thank you to my husband who has stood by me in my decision to bake has been 100% behind me, washes mixing bowls for me and has done a lot more cooking, spending nights watching tv alone, eating all those samples! . Thanks to my folks who allowed me to bake and make a mess, to my granny who I know would be very proud of me, my brother and my sisters and my friends who have brainstormed my business given me ideas, been agony aunts and giving me orders! and my children for always being wowed by what I have created.
